I enjoyed this a lot, Tim--fascinating reading! I don't know if Janet still stands for the 'normal' by the time she is seducing Rocky though... I think her experiences with Frank have taken her off the beaten track a bit by then. Reading characters as symbols like this is a lot of fun but when you look more closely you usually find that things don't line up 100%, which is generally more interesting anyway. But this is very thoughtful and perceptive and gave me some new ways to think about the film. Thank you!
